From March to July, the 955 stock market looked nearly perfect. It rose steadily and the three
key indicators we use were rising or very steadily positive. The pause did not drop the DJI
below the support of the rising 65-day ma. And the hesitations were orderly. The Flat Top
resistance beckoned for a powerful breakout and a resumption of the uptrend. As often
happens, once the market can get past the bearish Seasonality of September and October,
it advances strongly in November and December. The key lessons here are to respect the
fact that the DJIA is at an all-time high and flat top breakouts are very reliably bullish, even
if internals need a few extra days to catch up with the advance.
